Ceremony of Sound FAQ

No. To start the course, you do not need to bring or own or know how to play any instruments. In that first weekend, you are able to explore and play with our 30+ instrument collection to see what resonates best with you. By the second weekend, we ask that you have 2-3 instruments of your own choosing. You are able to purchase from our extensive collection of Crystal Tones crystal singing bowls and Meinl Sonic Energy healing instruments. There is a wide range in price, starting at $20. By the final weekend, we ask that you have 5+ instruments for your practice.
-
Lots of practice playing and learning instruments, including voice, and discovering what resonates most with you. We will cover topics such as basic music theory, the history and science of sound healing, and ceremonial space setting. You will discover what instruments layer well with one another, how to do freestyle/intuitive sessions well, as well as where it is important to have extra attention and care in a session. There is a lot of development of the ear and whole-body listening.

We have a collection of 30+ different instruments, including crystal singing bowls, handpans, drums, flutes, seed chimes, metal chimes, gongs, didgeridoo, shakers, and more. We also love to work with your inner instrument, your voice.

Yes! This course is unique because it is in person, which allows us to support and serve each individual, and it is designed for development whether someone is starting new or furthering established skills. Staff Teachers + Mentors
Carrie Arlah
Crystal Bowls, Voice, Listening, Ceremonial Space Setting and Holding, and more
Co-Founder of Breath+Oneness, Carrie Arlah began her professional music career at the age of 11 with the San Francisco Girls Chorus, singing professionally and traveling the world for years, eventually releasing her own self-produced album under her middle name Arlah. She has played the flute, oboe, various saxes, piano, trumpet, harmonium, shruti box, drums, and other instruments over the years, adding crystal bowls to her most recent musical lexicon and traversing happily and deeply into the world of Sound Healing. She is passionate about music, sound, and the ability of both to positively transform people on every level and is ecstatic to help people find their own direct relationship to the magical world of healing resonance and vibrating it out into the greater world for uplift.
Sam David
Didgeridoo, Voice: Overtone Singing, Throat Singing, Native Drum, Shamanic Space Setting and Holding, and more
Sam David was born in Hawaii and has traveled the world sharing the activating and healing power of sound for over 20 years. Raised part of his life with the Chumash Native Americans of central California, Sam learned their sacred practices and drumming. The didgeridoo and voice are his original passions and are what led him on a journey of healing and learning about the powerful effects of sound on people. He is an intuitive sound healer musician, integrating powerful healing techniques from many different cultures including indigenous didjeridoo sounds, Tuvin throat singing, overtones, Tibetan monks and Native American sounds, as well as sounds from whales of the deep. Within his sound journeys he also incorporates the higher frequency elements of crystal pyramids and crystal bowls.
Alex Harrison
Native Flute, Handpan, Drum, Guitar, Song, Sacred Listening, Chimes, Gong, and more
As a certified trauma-informed breathwork and sound healing facilitator, conscious-business mentor and nature enthusiast, Alex has long been aware of the innate connection between humans and the natural world. In his years of studying and cultivating internal stillness, he began to notice the inherent energy-flow networks present in all of life and was called to connect back with and to steward the facilitation of the breath. Alex believes that connections begin first with the self and ripple outward from there, and that when we allow ourselves to re-align with patterns of intelligence through breath, mindfulness, and nature-based awareness practices, there is limitless potential to tap into our innate wisdom. The work he focuses on invokes the artist within, nurtures creativity, and supports individuals in identifying and aligning their deepest core values with sustained action in the world.
Dallas McKenzie
Science of Sound, Soundscapes, and more
Dallas has been gathering her tools over the last decade to bring a deeper connection and understanding between the inner and outer worlds. Music was the spark that started it all, the didgeridoo threading spirit and connection into her life in her late teens, bringing curiosity for what lies deeper. Starting her path at the Globe Institute of Sound Healing Sciences in San Francisco, she began to fall in love with the way vibration was so intricately woven into the body, mind, and spirit health. Breath was the fan to flames of this passion. Knowing there was something still to be found in the breath she went on to start her studies at The Alchemy of Breath, for trauma release therapy and has been weaving her favorite modules ever since. She is passionate about the power that lies in both sound and breath and believes these are our greatest gifts, and greatest tools to fully remember the soul path.
Wayne Marto
Gongs, Chimes, Sound Healing Best Practices, and more
Wayne is a life-long musician who has studied the gong extensively under Gong Master Mehtab Benton. His authentic style of playing, infused with passion and intention, promotes deep relaxation and transformation. Wayne is the Founder-Director of Beneficial Sound, a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to bringing wellness to the mind, body and soul through sound and vibration. He has a degree in Psychology, is a Certified Gong Practitioner and Yoga Instructor and is a member of the American Sound Healers Association.
