James White, MD
James is a medical doctor boarded in Emergency Medicine. He practiced at some busy medical centers where he continually advanced his clinical skills and knowledge base including at Kaiser where he taught 3rd year ER residence and sat on the Quality Review Committee.
Dr. White has always had a diverse interest in the practice of medicine and has sought out complimentary approaches. He has significant experience in the ER use of Ketamine and is an expert on its uses in the emergency setting. As the use for Ketamine in the treatment of resistant depression and anxiety has become more widely known and studied, Dr. White took some additional training in its use for this purpose under the tutelage of Ketamine pioneer and psychiatrist Dr. Phil Wolffson. Its practical purposes have become increasingly clear, that it can be extremely beneficial in decluttering a disorganized mind allowing the issue at hand to be identified and clarity to be restored. It is further felt that there is a group wisdom present when journeying in a small group that aids in the process of enlightenment.

In this group setting, we’ll be using lozenges (sublingual ketamine). You'll place it under your tongue and let it dissolve slowly — you don’t swallow it like a regular pill. As you become familiar with the medication there is an option for an intramuscular route. However this is not essential, and only when/if one is drawn to that.
-
Onset usually begins within 10 to 20 minutes after administration, with the peak experience lasting about 35 to 40 minutes, and gentle integration for the next 60 minutes after that.
-
For this group, there will be a minimum of 6 and maximum of 10. It's an intimate and intentional group size, designed to ensure everyone feels supported and safe.
-
Music is a big part of the experience. We’ll provide a curated playlist to guide the journey internally. This helps create a personal, immersive atmosphere even in a shared space.
-
Common effects afterward may include feeling relaxed, emotionally open, or introspective. Some people feel lighter or even euphoric. The following week most people report a more positive outlook as well. *During the medical intake I also make sure participants are not prone to nausea, it is rare but once in a blue moon I will prescribe zofran (anti nausea medication) if participants wish.

Ketamine primarily blocks NMDA receptors in the glutamate system, while also modulating dopamine and serotonin pathways to boost neuroplasticity and mood; when used in controlled, therapeutic doses, it doesn’t cause lasting chemical imbalances. In fact, clinical studies have demonstrated its benefits in treatment-resistant depression and significant increases in BDNF (essentially fertilizer for your brain) levels.
-
You’ll need a ride home or someone to pick you up — we don’t allow participants to drive the same day. Most people feel grounded within a couple hours, but safety always comes first.
